Miles  (Distances calculated on a straight line by GPS):
Covered to date (from 11:30 Departure – 17:30 Time of this Update):             31
Remaining to Antigua:   2078

Avg Boat Speed:  5.6 knots

Weather: Overcast with patches of sunshine, 27° C

Wind: 0-18 knots, E

Seas: 0-1 meters; but very rolly as we’re motoring—yuck!

Crew Well-being and Morale:  Varied--Elated to have left, frustrated to be motoring at this early stage and I'm battling a queasy tummy.

Lunch:           Baked baguettes filled with spinach & feta
Dinner:         Beef tagine with cous-cous

Of Special Interest:
•       Cap Verde did not let us go easily as our keel snagged the pontoon lazy line as we were leaving! URRGH!!! We coasted in the marina to our great embarrassment for 30 minutes tethered to the dock while marina personnel dove under the boat to free us!
•       6 boats left at roughly the same time —a mini armada which added a festive air to this momentous departure!
•       Within the first hour, dolphins came alongside to guide and cheer us on.
•       Alan caught,  but sadly lost, a small tuna before he could land it.

‘Delight’ of the day:  Our skipper for remaining ‘steady under fire’ during a very difficult manoeuvre leaving the dock.

It is easier sailing when there is actual wind! I imagine a great big friendly cloud puffing up it's cheeks and getting ready to blow your way..get ready.. the sun is smiling, the stars are twinkling, and the moon is happy to be shining for you. God is there in all His Glory.
