Day 5

1/9/2013

Miles
Covered to date:  665
Remaining to Cap Verde:  208
Remaining to Antigua:   2358

Avg Boat Speed:  6.6 knots

Weather: Fair but hazy*, 24°
Wind: 14-22 knots, NE

Seas:  Rock and Roll!  2-3 meter swells with white caps (US)/white horses (UK)/sheep (FR).

Crew Well-being and Morale:  Very good.   We’ve lost count of the bruises acquired from being bashed as we move around the boat in these rocky conditions.  Now looking forward to reaching Cap Verde in less than 36 hours—God willing!

Menu:
Lunch:  Calzones
Dinner:  Leftovers

Of Special Interest:
•       Deck covered in red sand from the Sahara
•       75% of trip completed
•       Despite TWO rods on the go, no fish caught to date—hence the leftovers for supper!

Delight’ of the day:  We find that we’ve all been equally delightful during the past day. So no winner today.

*Most probably due to the Sahara sand in the air, we’ve concluded.
